In April 2008, Nic and his family visited Vanuatu and befriended another family who were helping with fundraising activities in an effort to help out a school in Pango Village. This village is on the island of Efate and is approximately 20 minutes from the capital of Port Vila.  After spending some memorable time with these students, Nic was overwhelmed and also helped out with some gifts for the school in the way of sporting equipment and backpacks for the kindergarten kids.  The joy on the childrens faces were enough for Nic and Co. to keep on helping this school and the children and families within it...

As they say the rules are simple.. No branding is allowed by any one firm... and they do it just for the sake of doing it !!!

2020 Sponsors Snowy River Festival

MEDIA RELEASE

The Go2020 Snowy River Festival (overall sponsored by 2020 Financial Solutions) was a huge success with more than 4000 spectators attending the three day event.

Over 60 entrants competed in the Snowy River Stockman’s Challenge with around 10 horsemen and women travelling from the Scone region.

Shane Easey, 48 of Willow Tree won the coveted event. He is a professional horse breaker and race-horse trainer. He lead the way through the whole competition.

He gave a great performance of bravery and horseman ship in the Brumby Catch event which is where riders need to chase down and catch a young wild brumby in 4 minutes. This was the highlight event of the festival and was a real crowd favourite. Shane and his horse were kicked several times during the 4 minute event with the last kick giving him a broken hand. He soldiered on in great pain, finished the job by catching the brumby and holding both with one hand and securing the trophy.

He won $5,000, a Hawkesbury River Saddle Company trophy saddle, Eddie Fisher trophy buckle, clothing from R M Williams and Thomas Cook and a swag of prizes.

Second in the Stockman’s Challenge was Ben Campbell of Bombala and third was Ryan Pendergast of Narrandera.  The Top Scoring Woman was Christy Connor of Taralga and the Winning Veteran was Philip Angland of Wantabadgery (Wagga).

Other events which pleased the large crowd were the Mack’s Auto Tyreplus Quick Sheer competition with Snowy Mountains local Ian Lennon winning the open division, and the Jindabyne Joinery/Cooma Pet Shop Dog High Jump that was won by Boxer. The working Clydsdales were also a hit with kids hitching a ride in the dray. Other favourite events included the Snowy River Tyrepower Stockman’s Relay and the Terrances Automotive Whipcrack.

Over 400 local school children enjoyed the Heritage day on Friday, where they listened to stories from yesteryear, learnt how blacksmiths turned metal into useful tools, tasted the damper from Sport and Rec, watched the Clydesdale demonstrations, enjoyed the displays from the NPWS, RFS and performances from Equine Movie trainer, Heath Harris and the Gilmore Family Circus.

The Snowprint Bookshop Poetry Stage was well received with Australian Female Bush Poetry Champion, Carole Heuchan holding poetry workshops and splitting a few sides with her humerous poems!

The ‘Michael Scott Lees Gallery, High Country Art Exhibition received more than 100 entries (a record) the people’s Choice award went to Frosty Hollow by Lucy Rose and the Special Subject category was won by Barbara Sainsbury with Trees, Trees, Trees. The comp was judged by two curators from the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra.
